Here is an unusual recipe that turned out really good, and it could have all kinds of variations. It doesn’t take that long to make, and it can be healthy (depending on your ingredients). You can make them with meat (or without).
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Ingredients List
1 diced green pepper
1 diced sweet onion
1 can sliced black olives
1 can pizza sauce (we prefer Dei Fratelli)
Shredded Mozzerella cheese (we use 2%)
1 package Wonton wrappers (about 60)
1 package sliced pizza pepperoni (we use Turkey pepperoni, or you could go meatless)
In the ingredients list you can use or substitute basically anything you like on a pizza. You also need a little water bowl with some water in it for your fingers.
Once you have all of your ingredients ready assembly is pretty easy. Get 2 baking sheets and spray them baking spray. On your cutting board take a single wonton wrapper, and first add a teaspoon of sauce. Then add a black olive slice, a tiny bit of green pepper, a tiny bit of onion, and about a tablespoon of cheese.
Take two opposite corners of the wonton, then the third, then the 4th and squeeze them together with the thumb and finger of one hand. Take the thumb and finger of your other hand and wet them in the water bowl and then use them to squeeze the corners together a final time. Once I do that I kind of “fold them over” a little as you can see on this picture.
Once you fill up one cookie sheet, move on to the second until all of your wonton wrappers are gone. I sprinkled them with garlic powder just before I put them in the oven. Then bake on 400 for about 7 minutes, or until lightly browned and bubbling with cheese.
Now that you know how to make these, try different variations – with sausage, or feta cheese, spinach, or whatever you like! In the future we’ll probably try different fillings that aren’t even pizza (like Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc.).
